e.optimum is Germany's largest independent energy purchasing cooperative for electricity and natural gas, based in Offenburg in southern Baden. Since 2010, e.optimum has been a reliable partner for companies in all matters relating to electricity and natural gas supply.
Structured energy purchasing
Electricity and natural gas are traded on the EEX energy exchange in Leipzig. There is the futures market for long-term contracts and the spot market for short-term price changes. e.optimum purchases on behalf of customers according to the structured energy purchasing model, hedges prices on the futures market and optimises them on the day-ahead market.

Clean Energy
The funding programme “clean energy” is one of the most ambitious programmes to support the energy transition in Germany.
- Programme objective: Among other things, the programme supports projects and initiatives for the expansion of renewable energies (e.g. photovoltaics and wind power).
- How it works: Companies and private individuals can participate in the programme with a small funding contribution per kilowatt hour. The contribution flows 100% into the funding projects.
- Specific project: In cooperation with Ökostromgruppe Freiburg, e.optimum is implementing the first funding project. In the municipality of Gutach in the district of Emmendingen, the construction of two state-of-the-art wind turbines is planned for the year 2026. e.optimum is participating financially in both turbines and is thus actively contributing to the energy transition. This project is an important step towards energy generation from renewable energies.
