Development of quantities in the bundling packaging licensing in tonnes
We are proud to present to you the development of the quantities in our “packaging licensing bundling”. The graphic shows a continuous increase in the bundled licensing quantities, which underscores the growing acceptance of and trust in our service among our partners.
Since Markant introduced its “packaging licensing bundling” service in 2008, the number of participating companies and the quantities contributed to the bundling have increased annually and currently stand at more than 400 companies for 2025 – with the trend continuing to rise. As a result, the quantities of bundled packaging are also developing strongly. While around 64,000 tonnes were recorded in 2020, the figure for 2025 is more than 140,000 tonnes.
Do you need an authorised representative?
The PPWR (EU 2025/40) has been in force since 12 August 2026. In accordance with Article 45(3), companies that place packaged goods on the market in an EU country without being established there themselves must appoint an authorised representative in the respective country. This affects, for example, e-commerce retailers, marketplace sellers and cross-border distributors.
The authorised representative assumes important tasks relating to extended producer responsibility (EPR), including registration with the competent national authorities, reporting of packaging quantities, as well as communication with authorities and EPR systems. Appointing an authorised representative is a prerequisite for fulfilling the corresponding statutory obligations in the respective market.
