Chemicals legislation regulates the handling of hazardous substances. These are cross-product regulations that are relevant for substances, mixtures and finished products in the entire nonfood sector. Examples of affected product groups include detergents and cleaning agents, disinfectants, cosmetics, chain sprays, paints, wood preservatives, antifreeze, textile products, jewellery, tyres, tools, decorative and joke articles and many more.
This regulates a wide range of aspects, such as labelling, including hazard symbols, packaging design with child-resistant fastenings, substance restrictions and authorisation requirements, as well as communication in the supply chain, which includes the forwarding of safety data sheets, reporting obligations to authorities and information obligations towards consumers.
