e.optimum is Germany's largest independent energy purchasing association for electricity and natural gas, based in Offenburg in southern Baden. Since 2010, e.optimum has been a reliable partner for companies in all matters relating to the supply of electricity and natural gas.
Structured energy procurement
Both electricity and natural gas are traded in Germany on the EEX energy exchange in Leipzig. A basic distinction is made between two markets: the futures market and the spot market. Long-term contracts are concluded on the futures market, while prices on the spot market rise and fall at short notice in line with supply and demand.
On behalf of our customers, e.optimum purchases electricity and natural gas according to the individual model of structured energy purchasing. We hedge our customers' prices with partial coverage on the futures market and optimise our customers' prices on the short-term daily market.

Clean Energy
The "clean energy" funding programme is one of the most ambitious programmes to support the energy transition in Germany.
- Programme objective: The programme promotes projects and initiatives for sustainable energy generation, including renewable energies such as photovoltaics and wind power. Climate and environmental protection projects and measures for sustainable mobility are also supported.
- How it works: Companies and private individuals can participate in the programme with a small subsidy contribution per kilowatt hour. The contribution is channelled 100% into the sponsorship projects.
- Concrete project: e.optimum is realising the first funding project in cooperation with the Freiburg green electricity group (Ökostromgruppe Freiburg). In the municipality of Gutach in the district of Emmendingen, the construction of two state-of-the-art wind turbines is planned for 2026. e.optimum is contributing financially to both turbines and thus actively helping the energy transition. This project is an important step towards sustainable energy generation and environmental protection.
