This topic summarizes requirements for protected, qualified indications of source. Indications of source can be recognised for food, wine, spirits and certain agricultural products. A distinction is made between a protected geographical indication (PGI) and a protected designation of origin (PDO), protected designation of origin (PDO or PGI), and the Traditional Specialities Guaranteed (TSG) . In Switzerland, there are additional requirements when advertising with the Swiss origin (Swissness indication).
