Ecodesign is a systematic approach to the environmentally sound design of products. Appliances with high electricity consumption, for example, and/or are found in a large proportion of households can contribute significantly to overall resource consumption. The aim of ecodesign requirements is therefore to improve the environmental performance of energy-related products. The energy label or efficiency label should also make it easy to compare the resource consumption of products. The form and content of the energy label or efficiency label are regulated in great detail. In addition, product-specific digital product passports (DPPs) will enable the transfer of relevant product data along the value chain in the future, thereby increasing transparency as well as recycling and reuse rates.
